A terrible experience

Lately in Colima, the security situation haven’t been being the adequate to live in peace. Well, it depends on the place or zone of Colima where the people live. For example, I live in a zone where at 10:00 pm o’clock the people is in their house and decide not to go out from their houses because at that hour bad things start to happen. Bad things like kidnappings, assaults, rapes, murders, etc.

But not only bad things happen at night. During the day, bad things may happen too. Recently, in the newspaper, the radio and Internet, it has been published news related to the bad things that happen in Colima. The most frequent disgusting events that happen are kidnappings and murders. Many times people thought in giving up with trying to fix that problem because the events are so frequently. However, the insecurity is being combated by the neighbors in collaboration with the police and the government institutes.

One day, I had slept until late because I was doing my production class homework. The next day, I woke up and it was 2:30 pm., I dressed and went to the store to buy something to prepare my lunch. When I came back to my house I went to the kitchen to prepare the lunch. When I finished to cooking my food, I went to my bedroom to clean it.

I started to clean my bedroom, I made my bed, I swept the bedroom and put the trash outside the bedroom in the sidewalk to pick it up and put it in a bag. When I was sweeping and putting the trash in the sidewalk, I saw two men in the corner of the street. One of them came to see my neighbor´s house from the front, the other one stayed on the corner of the street waiting for his mate. My neighbor was fixing his door, when the neighbor saw the man who went to see his house, he closed the door and wait until the man go away from there. As the man saw that my neighbor did not leave his house to continue fixing his door, the man went back to the corner.

I was sweeping when that happen, I did not stay outside watching all that, simply I was sweeping the trash to the sidewalk and the view of my eyes let me see that fact. I felt something strange, I thought that maybe the neighbor owed some money to those men to can calm me down. Apparently, the men agreed to take turns to watch my neighbor´s house, they did that approximately five time, they went to my neighbor´s house and came back to the street corner. When I saw that, I really thought that my neighbor didn´t owe any money to those men. Something strange and dangerous will happen, I thought in that moment.

As soon as I thought that something could happen, I decided to laid down in my bed before to getting lunch, I let open the door that got the street view, I shouldn’t have done that….

In approximately five minutes that I laid down in my bed, those men, came back to the front of my house in a car. I could see them because the door view let me saw them. They got off the car to go to my neighbor´s door. When my neighbor saw that the men were going toward him, he closed the door again. Then, the men came back to their car, they leave the street in their car, but it seem that they only went around the block, because they came back in front of my house. I started to think that something really strange and dangerous will happened. I felt something in my body that I can´t explain with words, it was something that made my body felt heavy and cold, really trembling and cold. I felt so nervous because I felt like the dead in person was there.

The men left the car to go to the neighbor´s door and came back to their car three times. The fourth time, I felt like if something touched my shoulder, and then, I heard a shot. When I heard that, I stand up from my bed really fast to close the door, I locked it and ran fast to the bathroom to lock me in there. I listened 3 shots more. After the shots, I heard how the car skidding went away from there.

I was too scary and nervous. I waited ten minutes in the bathroom. Later, I went to my bedroom to lie down and try to calm down. Then, the police and ambulance came to the street to attend my neighbor, he only was hurt of his neck. He only received one shot in the neck and the other shoots impact in his door.

The ambulance took up my neighbor to the hospital, but the police stayed around the block to do the necessary to study the crime. I stayed inside of my house, I was too scared and nervous to go out to say that I saw the culprits, and I thought that if I say something , maybe the criminals could came back and make sure that I don´t say anything that incriminate them.

After what happened, I felt insecure to leave my house, including to go to the school, the classes were about to start in four days later. I thought, and I felt more insecure. It took me some time to notice that I did not have nothing to fear, because I did not say anything that could put me in risk. Then I finally decided to go out and live my life in peace or at least can leave my house hopping that nothing bad could happen to me, but I stayed in caution in my around and I made sure to nothing bad happened.

Advices

• If you go through something similar, you should close the door or windows immediately. If you don’t want to see something similar.
• I don’t know If you are the kind of people that ignore your instincts or the feelings that I felt in that time, but if you are, you had better not get into situations of danger if you want be safe, it doesn´t feel cool, trust me.
• The crime was made by the men that I saw in that time, sometimes when you felt some strange feelings, we should take them into account.
• What I should do if I live something similar? What do you suggest?
• Was it okay that I did not go outside my house after what happened?
